Professor Simon Hawke is a Consulting Neurologist at the BMC and in central western NSW.  He sees patients with all types of neurological disease, but has special expertise in Virus Infections of the CNS, MS, and the Protein Misfolding Neurodegenerative Diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. His research group is developing new technologies for transferring therapeutic genes into the CNS aimed at treating neurodegenerative disease, and studying how a disordered blood-brain barrier causes diseases such as MS.  Professor Hawke was previously a Consultant Neurologist at Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust in London and Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London UK.
